What is one question you hate to be asked? Explain.

Late Idd Amin ceased to be the President of Uganda 46 years ago.

But still, because am Ugandan, there are those in the Diaspora who feel entitled to ask me questions about him and his reign.

I mean, he took power whilst I was only three years old and left power when I was 11 years old.

But still, even after I have just made a powerful presentation about Uganda current, there is always that question about Amin.

God forbid it is the first question asked…

Truthfully, what I know of Amin to render an opinion is what you all have access to online.

You may actually know more than I do, considering I am in a part of the world that doesn’t necessarily have priority access to information, in comparison.

The gist of that question is usually asked with the expectation of an answer that regurgitates that narrative, I assume, was laden in the film “Last king of Scotland” something or rather.

A film I have not watched and don’t intend to. Because, when will the scapegoating stop?

Amin died in 2003 and according to the New Vision:

“He was buried in the Holy City of Mecca in a high profile funeral attended by Saudi Arabian Kingdom Officials… (And) Hundreds of mourners led by Attorney General Francis Ayume attended memorial prayers at Old Kampala mosque.”

There have been multiple presidents since him. The current one has been in power three times longer than Amin was in power.

Why the obsession with Amin? Is the answer I often want to give when that Amin question is asked, but decorum restrains me.

And so I masterfully evade answering the question.
