I love to work while I listen to the sounds of nature.

Chirping of birds, the of sound leaves ruffled by slight winds.

Sound of water – a river, a lake splashes on rocks; rain lightly falling on a tin roof.

I had it all, but development has come to my area.

Now, in order to drown out the sound of ‘development’ I plug my ears to cut out the sound of road works and which cuts out the sound of nature.

I double up and play easy listening music on my laptop, but still the sound of ‘development’ cuts through, but not as sharp as it would be without my ear plugs.

Worse more, today, in addition, my peace is further disturbed by illegal construction work going on in the neighborhood. A story for another day.

I am determined that in the short-term as ‘development’ happens, I will not let it steal my joy. I know it will all be done at some time, I hope soon.

And my natural Latana fence will regenerate. The chirping birds who love love Latana berries will return and my peaceful work environment will be restored!
