From 22nd to 31st July 2025, there is an on-going exhibition, “inspiring change – the business women of Sudan” at the Green Room of the National Theatre in Kampala, with FREE entry.

At the exhibition, I had the opportunity to interact with amazing and resilient entrepreneurial women of Sudanese decent who have migrated to Uganda, forced out of their homes by the war.

I had the pleasure to observe first hand the Sudanese Coffee Culture in progress. Yes, part of the exhibition is on-going coffee ceremonies in which all are invited to take a free cup of coffee and be part of the community.

Sudanese role model refugee business women.

The preparation from start to finish is breath taking to watch. Done with ease as she engaged in animated conversation with others in the community. Sitting around on small round stools, nothing pretentious, but warm and welcoming.

I plan to go back for the aromatic tasty coffee and uplifting conversations with Sudanese Business women who are exhibiting. Loads and loads to learn from them and loads and loads of things to buy from them.

In light of the 9.6 billion shillings scandal to teach Ugandans how to drink coffee, there are many lessons for Uganda and Ugandans at the exhibition as we craft a Uganda Coffee culture and more.

Worth travelling to and visiting the exhibition.
