Honey, let me use it to make my point.

First, disclaimer: Actually I am not sure that I know which is pure honey and which is not. And so I start with a question:

Is it normal for pure honey to settle down and solidify at the bottom of the bottle like Molasses (sukali gulu)?

Civic activism rooted in humanism is the mission of blogger Owaraga Norah.Molasses-like substance solidified at bottom of previous honey bottle and sugar-like-particles on bottle walls!

If the answer is yes, honey may solidify into Molasses-like substance, then these senior ladies from whom I bought that honey, I misjudged the substance of their character.

If the answer is no, then I judged it well.

And those senior ladies have a great marketing trick. They showed me honey draining from honey combs into a bucket and made me believe it was straight from that bucket to the bottle; no impurities.

I admit, looks like I was conned by those senior ladies; or not; what do you think?

When I compare with “Lalida Shea Blossom Honey,” which I am inclined to believe is 100% natural honey, pure honey is not supposed to solidify into Molasses.

By the way, “Shea blossom honey is mono floral from Shea flower nectar.” Could it be the reason it is different from the one I bought ‘label less’?

My hesitation on matters honey on the market in Uganda is exactly how I feel now about my ability to judge human character.

You see, in retrospect, I agree that often I have ignored the proverbial red flags when they are presenting right in front of me.

Even when others have pointed them out to me, I have often decided to give certain humans, like those senior women who sold me seeming adulterated honey, a benefit of doubt.

In 2026, I am resolved to try and do better.

For a start, listen to that inner voice warning me that if it looks like a red flag it is. And if the red flag is pointed out by another, it is most certainly a red flag.

So, henceforth, my strategy is to scan for red flags up front and if my sixth sense warns it is so, I will not ignore it, I am determined to try.

And so I pray I be granted wisdom to know the difference.
