“‘Outsiders’ as Minsters for Karamoja Affairs, why?” is the title of the post I authored on 21st June 2021, in which I so generously shared with you, Convict Nanduttu, the outrage and discontent of my cultural daughters about your appointment.

Yes, my cultural daughters from Karamoja did not mince their words. They were very direct and clear when they expressed their disgust at your cultural appropriation; a smokescreen to disguise your inappropriateness to be the State Minister for Karamoja Affairs.

Convict Nanduttu, it is quite possible you missed my warnings to you, but I did author another post on 19th June 2021, whose title speaks for itself. It reads: “Hon. Nanduttu, reject it if you care for Karamoja.” I cautioned you to reject the appointment of State Minister for Karamoja, if you cared for Karamoja.

You ignored my caution and proved me right, shortly after.

You did not care for Karamoja after all. No excuses, you are guilty as charged and perhaps even more. Folklore alleges you were given the responsibility to launch the project and deliver thousands of iron sheets to youth of Karamoja, the karachuna.

And that you actually loaded the iron sheets and took them to Karamoja, only to return with them. Lo and behold, it is alleged those are the iron sheets from Government Stores that you were caught red handed with in your possession; with the intention for your private use.

You broke our hearts Convict Nanduttu.

You came to your overt political journey from the fourth estate; and in which you were a prolific active citizen who made significant positive impact in doing much needed civic education and agitating against abuse of office and corruption as a whole. You did hold duty bearers to account.

May you find the wisdom of reflection as you serve your time incarcerated. May you live to return to civilian day to day life and to hold duty bearers to account. Including yourself and those you alleged misguided you to dip your fingers in state coffers.

Be that as it may, I like that you have seemingly lost the temerity which emboldened you to ignore our valid cautions to you at the time of your appointment as State Minister for Karamoja Affairs.

And I also like that you did find the humility to apologize for your role in massive corruption that deprived thousands of Karimojong much needed aid.

Still, you became and are now the face of the “Karamoja iron sheets saga and the politics of corruption,” the title to another of my posts.

May your case serve the greater good in the governance of our nation. May it discourage politicians, especially newly elected ones, from rushing into and nurturing corruption, instead of fighting against the vice.
