Court Ruled Accused is a Flight Risk
Speaking after the ruling, Norah Owaraga welcomed the court’s decision to deny bail, describing it as a sign that the justice system was taking the matter seriously.
“Based on my experiences with Opolot — accosting me, harassing me, and damaging my property allegedly under instructions — I believe the court made the right decision,” she said.
She further commended the Police, ODPP, and the Judiciary for what she termed renewed commitment to accountability and rule of law.
Opolot will remain on remand at Kamuge Prison until June 2, 2026, when hearing of the case is expected to begin.
Investigations into the broader land conflict are still ongoing, with authorities indicating that more arrests and charges have not been ruled out.
