An alumnus of Leiden University, Netherlands and of the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam, Doctor Antvelink, since 1974, has practiced medicine and medical research in Uganda, mostly in Entebbe where he resides.

He is an obstetrician and is credited for birthing many children, especially in Entebbe. My brother Emmanuel George Owaraga, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Owaraga Still & Motion Group, is among them, for example. Indeed, many millennials born in Entebbe were birthed by Doctor Antvenlink.

Through his medical practice, he endeared himself among his patients and the wider community of Entebbe, in particular and of Uganda as a whole, for he is a selfless medical doctor with a great heart. His propensity to serve above self is exemplified by the fact he is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Entebbe.

His work ethic set the standard high, always putting the patient first before money. Doctor Antvelink is renowned for not prescribing unnecessary medication and or procedures; and therefore, keeping medical bills for his patients affordable.

In the past, he served Government of Uganda Hospitals – as a Medical Superintendent of Nkozi Hospital; and he worked at Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital; from whence he retired to private practice in his Kitooro Maternity and Nursing home. Furthermore, Dr Antvelink did serve as Chairman of the Entebbe Centre Advisory Committee of The AIDS Support Organisation (TASO) Uganda and as the Vice-Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of TASO Uganda.
