If you had a million dollars to give away, who would you give it to?

The proportion of the ‘unwashed masses’ increases in this era in which inequality and primitive accumulation is celebrated, without due regard to the damage to fellow humans and our world in general.

We need researchers to generate and disseminate empirical knowledge, the basis on which public interest litigants can fight for us and our world. Push back against the greedy and bad policies.

If not within my lifetime, the world should be a better place for the next generation, is my rationale. A world where there is:

• Less inequality
• Less damage to the environment
• Less wars for territory and natural resources
• Less cost for basic needs for human survival, like water.
• Less racism, tribalism and xenophobia
• The list is long …

Such selfless researchers and public interest litigants, especially in my homeland, can only do so much with the little that they have.

Imagine the possibility that they had a windfall of a million dollars …
