How would you improve your community?
Aspire to think and do as Captain Ibrahim Traore, President of Burkina Faso.
“It is about making sacrifices for the homeland, giving the best of oneself for the well-being of the people,” Captain Traore is quoted as having said.
And he holds true to his rhetoric in his actions. Through positive radical actions he has taken for for his community, so admired by many from around the Africa, living in deprivation as our leaders swim in ill-begotten wealth.
I mean, for example, what is not to like about “free childbirth for all mothers in Burkina Faso,” as he Captain Traore reportedly decreed.
Use one’s position of power, one’s endowment and one’s means to facilitate the greater good in the pursuit of happiness for one’s community, is what I would do to contribute to improving my community. And it is what I aspire to do.
Taking into account why it is that “Nordic countries consistently rank high in happiness rankings.” They say it is because of such factors as:
- Strong social support systems and sense of community
- Freedom of choice and sense of security
- Generosity and focus on the well-being of others
- Trustworthy governance and lack of corruption
- Good health outcomes and access to healthcare
It is what I aspired to do with my Alinga Farms. Unfortunately, whose operations are currently halted because of the criminal activities of my half-bother – gender-based violence, malicious damage of my orchard and land grabbing.
But I am fighting back. And I pray that Court will find in my favor. When it does, I will soon re-establish and build back by social enterprise, Alinga Farms, I hold out hope.
