First, I blog for me. For my mental health. I enjoy telling fact-based stories. It makes me happy and so, I blog for my mental health.
When through my blog another finds joy, and expresses it through following my blog and engaging – like and comment on my posts, I am thrilled. It makes me happy.
When another is helped by my blog – their voice amplified; they find connection in the ubuntu spirit and appreciation that they are not alone, it fills me with joy. It makes me happy.
Like, for example, when through my blog we re-united a boy with his long lost military father. Receiving joyous feedback from him and others my blog has helped brought me joy. It makes me happy.
Through my blog posts I make human connections. It delights me when I recognize and express gratitude to others on my blog. It makes me happy. For instance, yesterday, I experienced the best in policing by officers of the Uganda Police Force:
The men and women in uniform at Dokolo Central Police Station (CPS), thank you for enabling me not to break the chain of custody. For your kindness, professionalism and assistance, I thank you.
It was a breath of fresh air to walk into Pallisa CPS yesterday. I instantly felt a change of vibe. Professional men and women – some dressed in uniform, detectives in plain clothes, visibly busy doing police work was the norm.
I was tickled that the ‘old’ ones who have been deployed at the Pallisa CPS, since early 2024, recognized me by name and warmly welcomed me. Apparently, my reputation precedes me, some ‘new’ ones , knew me too.
Me thinks it is because I refused to remain silent in the face of injustice, spoke out loud and clear, including through my blog. Women and men in uniform at Pallisa CPS knew me by name before we ever met face-to-face.
I left Pallisa CPS with confidence that my protracted search for justice against he with deficient manhood, the land grabber, the criminal, the violent abuser of women, the mufere, terrorizing me is taking a positive turn. Fingers crossed!
As I write this blog post I feel happiness and I am smiling on this lovely sunny Sunday, while listening to uplifting music on 91.3 Capital FM. It makes me happy, so I blog for my mental health.
