He who has succeeded in opening our eyes to true state of rule of law in Uganda is the first person that comes to mind when I think of the word “successful.”
He who has succeeded in effectively shining a spotlight on actors in our justice sector to the extent that they have revealed their true caliber and color to us all.
He who has succeeded in effectively revealing to us the length that actors in our justice sector can go to use the law to seemingly work outside the law.
He who has succeeded in effectively showing to us how actors in our justice sector can at will weaponize the law to inflict significant harm to others.
He who succeeded in removing the proverbial scab covering the festering wound that is Bar-Bench relations current.
He who has succeeded in beginning the process of cleaning the festering wound that is Bar-Bench relations current so it may heal in line with the law of the land.
He who succeed in doing so, without lifting a finger to deploy physical harm against anyone.
He who succeeded in use of legal mental energy, making it attractive for members of the Bar to aspire to be “doctrinally perpendicular” for the greater good.
He is the current President of the Uganda Law Society, Senior Counsel Isaac Ssemakadde. For more insights read Diary of Undecided Voter:
