Honestly, my irrational self, you may say, feels that if I acknowledge my biggest challenges, it denotes my defeat. So, let me first share a challenge that is within my means to determine the outcomes.

Akamu (dry weather in Ateso, the language of my people, Iteso, the fourth largest first nation of Uganda) is upon us, complete with dry winds in plenty.

I understand that out there, in those countries which experience winter, the cold weather is as vicious to the skin as is dry weather or even worse.

Each time I feel my skin, especially my hands dried up, I simply reach out for my jar of SHEA BUTTER and take just a tiny bit. Within seconds, my hands are moist and feel soft to the touch. I am doing this now at least once an hour!

Civic activism rooted in humanism is the mission of blogger Owaraga Norah.

I kid you not. On my work table right now is a jar of “Lalida natural treasures – certified organic SHEA BUTTER for all age groups hand and body care.”

This is what I wish for you in 2026 and more. To have easy access to solutions to the many challenges that you and we all are bound to face.

Yes, among my pet projects for 2026 is to support the CPAR Uganda Social Innovation Centre, a partnership of CPAR Uganda and Blessed Organic Release.

Not only am I buying and consuming their products, I wish them for you too. A gift of health for you. Comment “Yes,” if you agree.

Now, back to my biggest challenges. I suspect, there isn’t a blogger, an activist, a humanitarian, anyone of good character, that isn’t in fear in my motherland at the moment. It is election time and this time round we have good reason to be the more fearful.

I believe I need not explain at length. Yes, that is the fear taking over. Media reports are surely dominated by rule of law and governance issues as regards our motherland.

How to overcome my fear is in itself a big challenge and a daily struggle. But one I pray I am able to do the battle as I hold up hope that 2026 will be the happiest New Year I have hand in a long time.

And besides, an elder has just informed me of the wisdom of our people that fear simply means we are more cautious and this could actually lead us to do things with perfection.
