Each time I get to hung with my clan sisters – Iretor and Amagoro – I am nourished, re-centered and rooted in love.
Iretor is daughter to the late brother of my late papa, papa Otim; while Amagoro is daughter to the sister of my late papa, ija Adekete. Profiled photo is at Iretor’s home – Amagoro and the son of Iretor carrying grandchild of Iretor.
It is a similar feeling that I get when I visit with and I am hosted by my sisters in love, of my extended family and clan.
Especially so, the wife of my clan brothers – Opio and Malinga, sons of late brothers of my late papa. Opio is son of my late papa Malinga and Malinga is son of my late papa Otim.
I am blessed to have grown up at the time when socialization by age-set was the norm among our people, Iteso. The bonds between my clan sisters with whom we were socialized remain strong among some of us.
Yes, Sikola and Amagoro are of my age group.
This past week, I was in Odeperio Village, in Kibale Sub-County, in Pallisa District, my ancestral home, to take my cry to the leadership of our clan, Ikariwok Isekelo.
A very emotional ordeal for me.
A criminal, with the alleged support of individual officers of the Uganda Police Force, deployed at Pallisa Central Police Station, as the criminal claims, forcefully and illegally occupied my property; and is denying me access to my:
- Home which I inherited from my grandmother at Kadoki Village.
- Farmland which I inherited from my grandmother at Kadengele Village.
- Farmland which I inherited from my grandmother at Aputon Village.
My complaint is now with the clan leadership and await their decision.
I share this so that I am able to give an example of how my clan-sisters are my rock. You see, before I went to present my complaint to the clan leadership, I first visited with my sister Iretor.
Since, my sister Amagoro lives nearby, my sister Iretor, knowing I would love for us three to hung out, sent a message to Amagoro, who instantly came by to Iretor’s. At her home, Iretor hosted us for the whole morning.
We chatted, had breakfast together and she made sure I had an early lunch.
Early lunch at Iretor’s and with Amagoro
By the time I was going to meet with the clan leadership, I was well fed and confident in my roots. I am somebody. I am loved by my clan and blood sisters.
It has dawned on me that I need to make sure that of my remaining time here on earth, I prioritize regular and frequent quality time with my clan and blood sisters.
They are my favorite people to be around, most certainly.
