Daily writing prompt
What is your favorite type of weather?

At the rate at which our electricity from the national grid is interrupted, sunny weather has become a major necessity for us.

We need loads of sunshine to charge our solar batteries so that when the power from the national grid goes off, we have a source of electric power that we need for our modern day life.

I mean, even our internet will go off for the router is depended on electric power.

People in other parts of the world, may think am exaggerating. But I am not. These days, almost on a daily basis, sometimes for multiple days at ago, we experience load shedding.

Like now, I am only able to write this post, connected to electricity through our backup solar system.

A short while ago there were light winds and a drizzle; and like on cue power is off. Our peaceful sounds of nature are now overpowered by the sound of generators blaring in the city.

The negative impact on our productivity is depressingly real. No wonder, several of our Ugandan made products, whose production is dependent on electricity, cannot compete on our own market.

No doubt, the unit cost of production for such products is pushed up due to unreliable electric power supply.

And the waste it generates, I can only imagine. You know frozen foods thawed and spoiled, you catch my drift …
