On my mind today are quotes or wisdom that relates to the consequences of actions taken.
I would like to think that I live my life by action-consequence wisdom, albeit sometimes I do so sub-consciously.
Among my favorite is wisdom, which apportions responsibility for our human agency. That hold us to account for the actions that we take.
Quotes bearing wisdom that holds us responsible to think about the consequences of our actions. Such as:
“When you choose an action, you choose the consequences of that action.” – Lois McMaster Bujold
Truthfully, there is a reason why actions-consequences quotes are on my mind today. Yesterday, I heard some good news.
‘The 40 days are over’ for a goon who has terrorized me for years.
Opolot Mubarak, a known agent of a criminal in my eyes, was remanded to a State correctional facility, Kamuge Prison in Pallisa.
He has a case to answer. He is accused of having sprayed growing crops with poisonous chemicals that damaged them. READ THE FULL STORY IN PML DAILY.
For years, Opolot and is criminal boss, have gotten away with their actions and have not truly ‘paid restitution’ to us their victims.
This does not mean they have not paid for their actions in the past. I suspect they have significantly paid, in order to evade justice.
Well, time is up. They, especially the one now incarcerated, have two weeks while he is on remand to reflect on his actions and appreciate that:
“Even small actions have consequences.” – Brandon Sanderson
Most importantly for me, I celebrate that the goon and his criminal boss, in this one incidence, are confronted with the wisdom that:
“Nobody ever did, or ever will, escape the consequences of his choices.” — Alfred A. Montapert
And so, today, as we commemorate Labor Day 2026, I commend the Pallisa justice system—Uganda Police Force, Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, and the Magistrate’s Court—for restoring public confidence:
No one is above the law.
May the single-mother and her elderly aunt, whose growing crops Opolot allegedly damaged, get justice from him and whoever instructed him to do the damage.
May the full force of the law come down upon them when they are found guilty.
