What’s your favorite game (card, board, video, etc.)? Why?

A GenX who grew up playing skipping and dodge ball on the streets and the front yard; who took playful walks in the forest collecting firewood; who took playful walks to and back from the well to fetch water; and who climbed trees is unable to answer the question “What is your favorite game😕”

I find myself unable to for I actually don’t play anymore 😕

What happened to me I wonder that I no longer take playing seriously.

I remember I used to play outdoors so much to the extent that I caused grief to my mum who wanted picture perfect photos of her family taken at the photo studio. Yes those where the days when only professionals took our photos in studios.

But back to playing. Is solitary exercising part of playing or part of prescribed things to do to stay healthy? If it is considered playing, my favorite game is riding a solitary bike indoors and doing stretched🙃

The board game I used to love and played often was Scrabble. Perhaps this is a wake up call that I should put in an effort to find and play with my fellow GenX

One response to “What is my favorite game?”

  1. It is sad how the traditional games are disappearing. Games that were both entertaining and educational. Games such as Ayo Olopan as it is called in Nigeria, Endodoi in Tanzania and Kenya and Omweso in Uganda that used to be widely played by adults and children alike are no longer widely promoted. There needs to be a concerted effort to promote the revival and preservation of African games that both women and men can play. https://africanfolder.com/10-african-games-you-didnt-know/
