While you are quick to embrace, adopt and insist on being referred to “honorable”, it would be nice if you actually earned it.
Food for thought
“Folklore has it that my ancestors, the Iteso of Uganda, were a proud people and a proud nation. Our Iteso ancestors must be turning restless in their graves at the current status quo. Bukedi Region, which hosts a significant population of Iteso, contributes 10.4 percent to Uganda’s national poverty, so revealed the UNHS 2019/2020 report. Teso Region contributes 7.1 percent to national poverty, so revealed the UNHS 2019/2020 report. I am inclined to believe that my home district, Pallisa District, is a big contributor to the appalling poverty statistic for Bukedi Region, albeit potentially being among the food basket areas for Uganda. Pallisa, after all, is among the largest producers of super rice, for example, among other cereals.”
This baseline for the 11th Parliament sadly continues to hold true. Some of you now in the 12th Parliament were also in the 11th Parliament, de facto in your last term of officer you did not earn the accolade “honorable”.
You can do better
Members of the 12th Parliament, you can do better.
I implore you to genuinely earn the accolade “honorable” by emulating and implementing some of the promises made to his constituents by one of your own, Hon. Akorikin Francis.
I happened upon video recordings of Hon. Akorikin on social media in which propositions members of parliament to look inward and reduce costs on them borne by the nation.
Savings from reduction of say, the bloated salaries of members of parliament, Hon. Akorikin proposes redirected to local governments to deliver services to the people.
