“My friend has rested. She has rested from the pain that she endured for three years. God’s ways are not ours. I have released her and pray to the Almighty to grant her soul eternal rest.”

Toto Canon Muriel Akabwai is reported to have suffered for three years and on Thursday, 28th February 2024, she succumbed to cancer.
Toto and papa Akabwai had lived 56 years in holy matrimony, since they wed in 1968 in Church of Uganda.
Born on 2nd February 1945, for 69 years, toto lived a good life, during which she made a significant contribution as an educator and a leader.
Papa Akabwai; the four surviving sons and daughter of toto Akabwai; the wider extended families of the Akabwais; the community of Kaderun Village, Atoot Sub-County, Ngora District; Iteso kere; Idwe oduk; fellow Ugandans; toto has rested. It is time for us to mourn, so let us mourn.
At the right time, I pray, we will find the courage and the wisdom to celebrate toto’s legacy here on earth. May we ensure that toto’s legacy lives on. May we be worthy and exemplify her legacy. And may we make her spirit proud as she watches over us until we meet again.
Papa Akabwai and immediate loved ones, I pray God strengthens you and let the holy spirit take control as you give toto a befitting aipudunio.
