For your individual generous donations that you channelled through me that enabled toto (mum), my siblings and I to cover my brother Fred Tukei’s medical bill of 9.8 million, I thank you. Allow me to name thee one by one:
- Eng. Willy Emmanuel Musumba
- Mr. James Owere Odumbi (together with your fellow OBs of Tukei)
- Ms. Kate Kayiso
- Ms. Stella Guludene
- Mr. Steven Lagara
- Ms. Monica Omona Atube
- Mr. Moses Kitaka
- Mr. Allan Ruberantwari Kwizera
- Mr. George Mugisha Barenzi
- Mr. Kivuna Julius
- Mr. Alex B. Okello
For you whose donations came through and I couldn’t discern your names, I thank you equally. For all who supported Tukei through my brother James Okoit, I thank you. Without your financial help we wouldn’t have been able to get Tukei the medical care he needed.
Not many who have had a mild stroke while standing, fallen and hit their head on a rock in Entebbe have survived. There aren’t medical facilities in Entebbe that can ably handle head trauma, in terms of the surgery that is need and in terms of care in ICU.
With your financial support we were able to afford an ambulance from Entebbe to Nsambya Hospital; the surgery; ICU care and hospitalization that he needed. Post hospitalization, Tukei continues to go for review and checkups, as well as getting physiotherapy.
Last Friday, 22nd March 2024, Tukei received by his physiotherapist at Entebbe Hospital
Nearly, four months since Tukei was taken seriously ill and incapacitated, he is on his way to recovery. He no longer needs to be pushed around in a wheel chair. He can walk with the help of a walking stick. For short distances, he can now walk without the stick. According to his doctors, Tukei’s recovery is on course. He is doing the work.
I am forever grateful to our cousins (sons and daughters of my mother’s siblings) who show up for us, my mother’s children, always. I am grateful to my mother’s children for being good to each other and our support system. I am grateful to my sister in love, Sarah, Tukei’s wife who is doing an amazing job caring for him.
Last, but not least, my toto who post her husband’s death has stepped up and is supporting us, her children, giving us her all – financially and emotionally. I don’t know what we would have done without you. Thank you toto.
