This morning, Friday, 27th September 2024, we awoke to the devastating news that Ejakait Onapito Ekomoloit, “the struggling boy” from Teso, he, who through against all odds and tears, conquered and triumphed, has rested.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that he lost the battle and succumbed to lung cancer.

May his children, wife, siblings and extended family find the strength that they need to navigate this difficult time; to mourn him; and in time find comfort that his spirit has joined those of our ancestors since gone, now watching over us.

His legacy in service of his immediate family, of Ateker Iteso, of his country Uganda, he captured and bequeathed us in his book: “Tears & Triumph – My Life with Yoweri Museveni and Others.”

What a significant leader, an elder in Ejakait Onapito, we, Iteso, have lost here on earth. Ipu akio noi. Itwania epir lo lem ebwoikit oni ateker, idwe oduk kere. Okwe papa itimoi iso!

The central pole holding our house together has fallen. Abiror ekale, okwe papa itimoi iso! As we learn more about his aipuduno (the first part of his funeral ceremony), I will up-date accordingly.
